From the revival of traditional North Carolina flatware silversmithing comes this the “Bateman” engraved demitasse / hors d’oeuvres spoon!
Hand wrought from a cast ingot of solid silver coin (.800-.900/1,000)— the smooth handle was hand engraved in the Georgian manner of “Brite cut” engraving popular in the late 18th century.
Made popular in modern times from works by the famed Woman silversmith Hester Bateman, such engraved patterns were common forms of decoration during the late 18th century and even were employed by American Silversmiths.
This teaspoon was hand forged in the traditional manner, and hand engraved using 19th century Jewelers gravers. Hand polished and finished- it is the right size to use for serving sauces, or toppings- or to be used as a traditional Georgian sized teaspoon.

Custom and personalized orders
We regularly create custom order pieces. Besides special order pieces for individuals, we have made presentation pieces for the DAR, NCSDAC, as well as several historical societies. Simply drop us a message with an idea of what you are looking for and we will produce a sketching and provide an estimate of how long it will take to craft.
Care instructions
All of our pewter is lead free and should not be placed in the dishwasher. Gentle cleaning with warm water and soap is all that is needed to clean the pieces. Over time the pewter will naturally dull slightly, which is appealing to many. However it that is undesired a paste of baking soda and water will bring back much of the luster.
