English Bristol Delft Inspired "Marlin" fish bowl by Old North Pewter of Edenton, NC

$56.00

During the second half of the 18th century there were delft pottery painters in England that created a series depicting fish, sea monsters, and other "newly studied" creatures. A particular delft polychrome dish hailing from Bristol England in circa 1760 inspired this bowl and "nosed fish"

Delicate, yet fully functional this handwrought pewter bowl would be ideal for use on a table or suitable for display in the most discriminating of households.

Hand finished using metal files, sand, brick dust, horsetail reed, and jewelers rouge.
Ideal for the individual who appreciates true authentic handmade quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom and personalized orders

We regularly create custom order pieces. Besides special order pieces for individuals, we have made presentation pieces for the DAR, NCSDAC, as well as several historical societies. Simply drop us a message with an idea of what you are looking for and we will produce a sketching and provide an estimate of how long it will take to craft.

Care instructions

All of our pewter is lead free and should not be placed in the dishwasher. Gentle cleaning with warm water and soap is all that is needed to clean the pieces. Over time the pewter will naturally dull slightly, which is appealing to many. However it that is undesired a paste of baking soda and water will bring back much of the luster.

Wholesale availability

We do sell wholesale. As our pieces are normally one of a kind, please contact us directly with quantities and styles that you might be interested in.
