Hand Engraved Large Pewter Serving Spoon- Handmade in Edenton North Carolina!

$38.00

In the 18th and early 19th century pewter was a mainstay in the majority of the households, and being aptly named "Poor man's silver"- households could affordably mimic solid coin silver of the more prosperous households with this alloy of tin and copper.

Cast in an antique bronze spoon mold- the spoon was hand finished and filed- each piece has been delicately hand engraved in a pattern inspired by Georgian silver.

This particular spoon has been engraved with the wriggle and oval medallion made popular by the famed female silversmith Hester Bateman.

Ideal for daily use- this serving/ tablespoon was made entirely by hand in Edenton North Carolina.

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom and personalized orders

We regularly create custom order pieces. Besides special order pieces for individuals, we have made presentation pieces for the DAR, NCSDAC, as well as several historical societies. Simply drop us a message with an idea of what you are looking for and we will produce a sketching and provide an estimate of how long it will take to craft.

Care instructions

All of our pewter is lead free and should not be placed in the dishwasher. Gentle cleaning with warm water and soap is all that is needed to clean the pieces. Over time the pewter will naturally dull slightly, which is appealing to many. However it that is undesired a paste of baking soda and water will bring back much of the luster.
