This handwrought ladle was made entirely by hand in Edenton North Carolina. The pewter was melted in a wood fire in a recreated brick forge.
Cast in an original bronze mold dating from the second half of the 18th century then shaped by hand and hammer to form a gravy ladle.
The smooth hammered body is accented with a die struck scallop shell on the tip of the handle- a motif quite popular with the high society of the Georgian era.
Food safe and certainly a fine truly handmade piece of pewter which would make for a unique serving piece.
Measures 7 inches.

We regularly create custom order pieces. Besides special order pieces for individuals, we have made presentation pieces for the DAR, NCSDAC, as well as several historical societies. Simply drop us a message with an idea of what you are looking for and we will produce a sketching and provide an estimate of how long it will take to craft.
All of our pewter is lead free and should not be placed in the dishwasher. Gentle cleaning with warm water and soap is all that is needed to clean the pieces. Over time the pewter will naturally dull slightly, which is appealing to many. However it that is undesired a paste of baking soda and water will bring back much of the luster.
We do sell wholesale. As our pieces are normally one of a kind, please contact us directly with quantities and styles that you might be interested in.
