Sculpted! 18th Century English "Pickle" leaf dish in Handwrought Pewter- Edenton North Carolina crafted- Old North Pewter

$46.00

Inspired by an original c.1760 English delft sweetmeat or pickle dish (CW catalog item# 1964-372) molded trays such as this were widely popular among all classes in the Colonial American period- serving a multitude of uses and used to add a touch of elegance to even the plainest of tables.

Handwrought from a cut sheet of lead free pewter- the shaping was made using stakes, mallets, and steel hammers.

Like the original leaf tray the front of the piece is decorated with a vining fruit and leaf motif (grapevine) though on this pewter piece the engraving is hand engraved.

Measures 5.5 inches to tip and 4.25 inches wide (like the original).

Fresh from the forge for 2026 and part of the NC 250th collection.

Old North Pewter, made entirely by hand in Edenton NC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom and personalized orders

We regularly create custom order pieces. Besides special order pieces for individuals, we have made presentation pieces for the DAR, NCSDAC, as well as several historical societies. Simply drop us a message with an idea of what you are looking for and we will produce a sketching and provide an estimate of how long it will take to craft.

Care instructions

All of our pewter is lead free and should not be placed in the dishwasher. Gentle cleaning with warm water and soap is all that is needed to clean the pieces. Over time the pewter will naturally dull slightly, which is appealing to many. However it that is undesired a paste of baking soda and water will bring back much of the luster.
